  • HEX Welcomes Skateboarder Guy Mariano To The Family!

Today we are proud to announce that influential pro skater, Guy Mariano has officially joined our growing team!

“We couldn’t be happier to have Guy be joining our growing HEX family,” said Carl Steindler, marketing manager at HEX. “Not only is Guy one of the hardest working men in skateboarding, his ability and style also span decades so being able to develop a relationship with him is a no-brainer. There is no doubt he will bring a ton to the table and we look forward to sharing and developing his ideas.”

Currently residing in Los Angeles, when Guy isn’t out cruising with the boys scouting new spots he can be found in his North Hollywood skatepark or polishing up his business skills sans suit. Guy, who is best known in the skateboard world for his jaw dropping video parts and ability to defy all odds, is a standout in the crowd anywhere he goes. His business senses helping to oversee companies coupled with his acute attention to detail are two major factors that have contributed to his long lasting success. When taking that rare day off, Guy can most likely be found just relaxing at home or honing his skills at the local golf course.

”I'm very excited to be a new addition to the HEX family,” said Guy. “The HEX brand is a leader in wearable technology where accessories meet in a modern and stylish way. They know the accessories business inside and out and maintain an eye towards what's ahead which makes them a great partner. I look forward to working closely with their team on some new products and designs.”

In addition to HEX, Guy also rides for: Girl Skateboards, Fourstar Clothing, Lakai, Spitfire, Royal Trucks, Diamond Hardware, Glassy, Grizzly Grip and Val Surf.

We are excited to announce our latest exhibition, "The Goblin Universe" featuring the works of Matt Furie and Michelle Devereux. Matt Furie returns to New Image Art with a new cast of hyper colored phantoms, monster sluts, and other mythical creatures sure to melt your sci-fi loving hearts. This month New Image Art welcomes newcomer Michelle Devereux in her first West Coast exhibition. Matt Furie's drawings come from a mix of child-like enchantment and momentary adult situations. His self proclaimed "...children's book illustrations for adults" combines traditional and modern mark-making for his ripe, cartoon-inspired characters. • Street League 2012 - Straight From Kansas City

Last weekend we were fortunate enough to attend the first stop of Street League Skateboarding fresh from Kansas City, Missouri. With 23 of the best street skaters from all over the world fighting it out for the $150,000 grand prize the action was pretty much non-stop and energy off the charts. When the dust settled it was none other than veteran (and youngun) Nyjah Huston winning the event and barely edging out the European Bastien Salabanzi. We can't wait for the next stop in Ontario, California where we will be on hand again...only this time we think our man Mike Mo is going to take it!!!

  • Hanging With Bucky At The Pro-Tec Pool Party

Our main man, Bucky Lasek, going big in the Pro division. Congrats on your overall 3rd!!!

On Saturday we were fortunate enough to make it down to the Vans Skatepark in Orange for the annual Pro-Tec pool party. This contest, which as the title eludes is in fact more like one big party, featured many of today's top skaters (vert and pool) and also some of the biggest legends in the sport competing in the coveted Master's division. We were treated to the likes of Christian Hosoi, Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, Chris Miller, Lance Mountain and many more. As if that wasn't good enough the Pro division was also stacked with our man Bucky Lasek competing with friends Rune Glifberg, Pedro Barros, Andy Mac and more. Literally, for five plus hours we couldn't take our eyes off the action. And, if we learned a thing or two from this illustrious event it's that pool skating is alive and well and that "old" guys can still kick ass!!!

    The scene was set.

    Ready, set...

Greyson Fletcher was flying thru the bowl...this kid is old school at heart...

Tony Hawk and his age old invert...nobody does it better.

    The crowd was psyching.

A couple weeks ago we jammed up to LA to say whattup to our homey Slim Boogie. Slim, for those of you who don't know, is one of the baddest dancing machines this side of the Mississippi, and is always on the go traveling the world where he showcases his skills in various contests and events. The Popping style is what he is known for, but just give this guy a beat and he can move gracefully to anything. Lucky for us, we got him to sit still for a few minutes so we could ask him a few questions and bring you guys another installment of our HEXclusive video series known as "LAST"...enjoy!!!
