A couple weeks ago we jammed up to LA to say whattup to our homey Slim Boogie. Slim, for those of you who don't know, is one of the baddest dancing machines this side of the Mississippi, and is always on the go traveling the world where he showcases his skills in various contests and events. The Popping style is what he is known for, but just give this guy a beat and he can move gracefully to anything. Lucky for us, we got him to sit still for a few minutes so we could ask him a few questions and bring you guys another installment of our HEXclusive video series known as "LAST"...enjoy!!!

Over here at HEX we are not the most rhythmically gifted people, but we have the utmost respect for those who are. Case in point, we want to introduce you to our boy Slim Boogie. Slim is a Popping champion and all around dance machine. He travels all over the world entering (and winning) contests and blowing peoples minds with his talent. With his slick delivery and unmistakeable groove, he has won several battles over the years including the coveted Mighty 4. He is also a member of the Machine Gone Funk crew and is always extensively performing in his local community of DTLA, judging and helping train tomorrows talent. Last Tuesday a slew of dancing fans and fiends all flocked to Tapas Restaurant in Newport Beach for the 7th Annual Focus Dance Competition-that we just so happened to be sponsoring (insert shameless plug there). The talent pool was so deep that we saw dancers travel all the way from San Diego and Los Angeles to strut their stuff. With three categories: Breaking, Popping and Freestyle, this was surely a night to remember.
Repeating champ Slim Boogie wowed the crowd again with his insane antics and took home first in the Popping category, while Toy Box did it up and sweeped numero uno in the Freestyle event. Then, lastly but surely not least, Ryan head spun and wind milled all over the dance floor to take home first place honors in the Breaking category. Never a dull moment, the competition was stiff and the dancing went all the way until 1:45am when security basically had to start booting us out.
However, by that time, we had all seen what we came for and were plenty stocked up on motivation to make our journey home with ease and start plotting our plan of attack for next year. We also wanna throw a huge shout out real quick to Josh Billings who mixed it up on the cuts all night and kept the competition flowing.
